Ubisoft has announced a substantial, free content update for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, titled ‘Valley of Memory,’ set to launch on November 18 across all platforms, including PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Store), and iOS.

This major gaming news comes as a surprise to many, as the game was initially positioned as a smaller, standalone experience. The update, which is being released to celebrate the game’s two-year anniversary, is a massive thank you to the gaming community and a generous expansion for the action-adventure stealth title.

New Story, New Region: Basim’s Quest for His Father

The ‘Valley of Memory’ update introduces a rich new storyline and an entirely new region for players to explore:

  • Story Expansion: The update adds over six hours of new main quest and story content. The narrative is set before the main game’s finale, following Basim as he travels to the stunning, ancient valley of AlUla—a real-world UNESCO World Heritage site in modern-day Saudi Arabia—after hearing rumors that his long-lost father, Is’haq, might still be alive there. Basim will confront a dangerous band of robbers and uncover a personal chapter of his coming-of-age story.
  • The Region of AlUla: Players will explore a massive, new, and diverse map area, encompassing the old town of AlUla, the Musa Ibn Musayr fortress, and the vast desert wilderness with its impressive necropolis structures. Ubisoft Bordeaux has worked to recreate this historically rich, though documentation-scarce, 9th-century setting, complete with new assassination targets and side quests.

Fan-Requested Gameplay Enhancements for the Full Game

Beyond the new story, the ‘Valley of Memory’ update delivers significant, fan-requested improvements and features that will apply to the entire Assassin’s Creed Mirage base game:

  • Parkour Improvements: The update reintroduces a classic, highly requested feature: Manual Jump. Players will now have greater control over their free-running, allowing for smoother transitions, customizability of side and back ejects, and the execution of parkour sequences that were previously impossible. A new controller preset will also be available to support the new manual jump mechanic.
  • Replayable Missions & Challenges: Key missions from both the new expansion and the main campaign will be replayable through the Animus Sequences menu. This new mode includes optional challenges that test players’ mastery of stealth, such as completing missions with a timer, only killing the main target, or avoiding the use of Eagle Vision.
  • Difficulty and Tools:
    • Two new difficulty levels and custom difficulty settings are being added for players seeking a tougher experience.
    • Basim gains a new skill, Engineer 2, and each of his tools receives a new, powerful Level 3 modification, with upgrades like smoke bombs that dissolve bodies and blow darts that pierce armor.

This content drop transforms Assassin’s Creed Mirage into a more complete and challenging experience for both new and veteran players of the historical action game. The inclusion of highly-demanded features, particularly the parkour upgrades, demonstrates a strong response to community feedback, making November 18 a must-play date for Assassin’s Creed fans.
